Primm Hotels

Primm, Nevada, the point of entry into Nevada on Interstate 15 from Southern California, is home to three large casinos:  Buffalo Bill’s Resort Casino, Terrible’s Primm Valley Resort, and Whiskey Pete’s Hotel Casino.  All three are owned by Primm Valley Resorts, which operates free shuttle buses between the three properties.  There is also a free single-car monorail that provides access between Terrible’s Primm Valley Resort and Whiskey Pete’s, which are on opposite sides of Interstate 15

Buffalo Bill’s Resort Casino has 1,242 guest rooms and suites and is located on the east side of Interstate 15.  In addition to a 46,000 square foot casino, Buffalo’s Bill’s also has a 6,500 seat Star of the Desert Arena, which is designed for concerts, and a pool in the shape of a buffalo.  Buffalo Bill’s also has an impressive roller coaster for thrill seekers, called the Desperado, which is one of the fastest and tallest roller coasters in the world.  The roller coaster reaches speeds up to 80 miles per hour and has a drop of 225 feet.

Terrible’s Primm Valley Resort offers guests 623 rooms and suites.  It has over 1,500 slot machines as well as table games and a sports book.  The hotel has an exhibit featuring the bullet-riddled car that Bonnie and Clyde were in when they were killed.  The resort also includes the Primm Valley Golf Club, which is two miles to the south in California and features two challenging golf courses.

Whiskey Pete’s Hotel Casino is the oldest of three large casinos in Primm, having first opened in 1977.  It has 777 rooms, a large outdoor swimming pool with a water slide and spa tub, three restaurants, and approximately 36, 400 square feet of casino space.  Whiskey Pete’s is typically the most economical of the three major hotels in Primm.  It lends its name for the area’s original owner, Pete MacIntyre.  In the 1920’s, in addition to his convenience store, Pete MacIntyre also set up a bootlegging operation.  Thus he became known as “Whiskey Pete” and was a popular figure in Primm history.

Hotels of the World

Hotels are meant to be your home away from home. Often, though, especially with the advent of boutique and luxury hotels, they are even more than that, they become experiences in and of themselves.

From art-themed, to book themed, to green and clean to haute cuisine and high fashion, hotels have clung onto every chic and hip meme out there, developing them into posh design concepts which easily attract the curious and smart from all corners of the world to lay down their heads and their dollars for a night’s sleep.

Of course, you’ve got your standard beachside paradises, fully equipped with peace invoking reflecting pools, shabby-chic villas with mosquito netting romantically slung around the beds and organic chocolate covered coffee beans on the pillows; and you’ve got your upscale, metropolitan affairs, architecturally zeitgeisty structures that double as upstanding lessons on high class and elegance as well as those staid, institutional hotels which never go out of style.

But, for those looking for something different, for something a little more off the beaten track, something more adventuresome or creative, there are a host of options out there.

Here’s a look at some of the world’s most unique and unusual hotels.

The Magic Mountain Hotel, in Panguipulli, Chile, at the center of the Huilo Huilo nature reserve, is a hotel in the shape of a  mountain. Water spouts from the top of the mountain, cascadeing down the sides creating a spectacular sight. This is definitely not your ordinary hotel. It’s set in the middle of a forest in beautiful southern Chile; there are hot tubs made out of tree trunks, perched on a wooden deck overlooking the woodlands; and there’s also a nearby golf course. Rooms start at around $170USD per night.

In Sweden, visitors to Jukkaskjarvi can stay in a hotel made out of pure, solid ice. Although there are several ice hotels in the world, this one was the original Ice Hotel; it’s also the world’s largest hotel made out of ice and snow, covering some 5500 square meters. The hotel started out as a small igloo built on the Torne River, as an art exhibit. Some visitors decided to sleep in the igloo and the ice hotel concept was born from there. Today there are several ice hotels all over the world.

The Lighthouse at Harlingen Harbor in the Netherlands, once served to shepherd sailors and ships in the harbor; it was closed in 1998, however, one intrepid individual determined that although the light might be extinguished, the historic structure and landmark itself could still be put to good use. The lighthouse is now a luxurious hotel; guests can sleep in the tower, where the beacon once was, or they can stay in the lifeboat, which now rescues people from the daily grind, rather than the harrowing north seas.

The Franklin Feel the Sound Hotel in Rome is all about music. This place is dedicated to good tunes, good design and modern technology. Located a few blocks away from the Vatican in the Prati quarter, this hotel offers guests all the creature comforts including high quality stereo sound systems and vinyl records.

As a Gold Coast holiday rentals operator, Damian Papworth strives to help tourism. As such he built a search engine for Gold Coast hotels Australia.

Theme Park heaven and natural beauty; both to be found in Florida

Florida is often described as America’s playground and with Orlando at its heart there is certainly plenty to do when it comes to theme park frivolity and fun! Although the Sunshine State offers some of the most spectacular natural sights, such as the Everglades, the Florida Keys and the marvelous Gulf of Mexico coast it is the theme parks of Orlando that draw visitors in their millions.

Ever since the Disney World resort opened its doors in 1971, the region has prospered attracting a series of other theme parks and entertainment options in addition to the Disney offerings. It is certainly the undisputed theme park heaven, offering adults and kids of all ages the opportunity to enjoy an action-packed holiday of a lifetime.

Disney World resort consists of four theme parks and two themed water parks. The first of the parks to open was the Magic Kingdom in 1971 followed 11 years later by Epcot. Disney’s Hollywood Studios opened to a huge fanfare in 1989, and the most recent addition to the Disney family Animal Kingdom threw open its doors in 1998. The themed water parks of Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon offer a superb relaxing alternative and many people intersperse theme park visits with days spent splashing around and topping up their tans. Guests staying on resort get to use the water parks as part of their accommodation deal.

Indeed, there are many different types of accommodation in Orlando and Kissimmee to suit a full range of budgets, from budget motels to luxurious five-star Disney hotels situated at the heart of the resort. Most of the larger off-park hotels offer free shuttle services to the theme parks, but for the ultimate experience many guests choose to stay on resort and get benefits such as early entry to the parks. Universal, has two parks in Orlando and also offers top-notch on-resort accommodation, such as the Hard Rock hotel offering its own range of benefits.

Although the majority of Orlando visitors devote their entire holiday to staying within the vicinity of the theme parks, many holidaymakers choose to combine their break with a few days or longer in one of Florida’s other popular destinations such as the Keys, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, The Everglades or the Gulf Coast. All offer an alternative to the furious theme park pace, and a tranquil taste of the Sunshine State. Whether it’s the natural beauty or the manufactured theme park thrills that appeal, both are in ample supply in the Sunshine State of Florida.

Historic Cape Town

Cape Town is a city with a fascinating history, reflected in the striking landmarks dotted throughout the city. Even today, much of the original architecture exists, and the magnificent buildings of yesteryear are still prominent features in the city centre. A tour of Cape Town’s CBD reveals an eclectic juxtaposition of old and new, as Victorian monuments and old Cape Dutch homes flank the city’s modern buildings and office blocks.

Cape Town’s distinctive character – a combination of old-world charm and modern sophistication – is best experienced in the vibrant city centre. Here, a smorgasbord of cultures and traditions come together to create the atmosphere that is uniquely Capetonian. A proudly South African city with international appeal, Cape Town boasts a warm, friendly ambience that permeates its city centre. A place of classic sophistication and rustic charm, this city beside the sea is one of South Africa’s historic gems.

Historic Cape Town, a traveller’s delight

For travellers with a passion for cultural exploration, Cape Town offers many a fascinating journey through the annals of history. Although the city was formally established more than 350 years ago, echoes of its earliest settlers can still be felt throughout the city.

The Castle of Good Hope, for example, is the oldest surviving building in Cape Town, having been built by the Dutch East India Company between 1666 and 1679. It is one of the defining features of the city centre, and is a must-see attraction for anyone with an interest in military history, art, period furniture – and spooks! It’s long been believed that the Castle is haunted, and many people have claimed to have seen spooky apparitions within its passages and dungeons.

Cape Town’s “Historical Mile” is also a prime attraction in the Western Cape, and spans the scenic route between Muizenberg and Kalk Bay. Here, travellers can take in exquisite views of the coast whilst viewing Posthuys, South Africa’s oldest building. It’s also a beautiful place to enjoy long lunches beside the sea, or to explore the quaint books shops and boutiques lining the streets.

Robben Island is another major historical attraction in Cape Town, and no trip to the city would be complete without visiting Nelson Mandela’s infamous place of incarceration. These days, it serves as a museum and cultural landmark, and visitors can travel there by ferry, departing several times daily, from the V&A Waterfront. The Waterfront, of course, is in itself a very popular attraction. Here, contemporary shops and restaurants are positioned beside the historic Victoria and Albert basins, the original Cape Town harbour. It’s a unique leisure destination, surrounded by the ocean and framed by Table Mountain.

Historic tours of Cape Town can be enjoyed throughout the year, and are recommended for anyone interested in Cape Town’s fascinating past. Many tours operate in the city, and these can generally be booked upon your arrival. However, if you’re visiting Cape Town during peak holiday time in December or January, it’s a good idea to book your tour in advance.

Fun and Sun at Fort Lauderdale beach

Fort Lauderdale is the perfect vacation spot for dedicated sun worshippers, boasting seven miles of breathtaking golden beaches and a warm sunny climate all year round. Formally known as the spring break capital of America, the city has recently shrugged this reputation and is now better recognized as a cosmopolitan stylish vacation hotspot with some of the best beaches, shops and restaurants to be found on the West coast.
<BR><BR>
Often referred to as the Venice of America, due to its numerous canals that wind throughout the city and surrounding areas, Fort Lauderdale is a dream destination for holiday goers and its biggest draw has to be the beach.
<BR><BR>
Fort Lauderdale’s Beach has recently undergone a 15 year renovation project costing $26 million which has seen the coastline transformed into a paradise playground for its residents. The sandy stretch looks out over the Atlantic waters and, with its palm tree lined walkways, feels more like a tropical destination than an old US naval base, its original function.
<BR><BR>
The water at Fort Lauderdale beach is clear blue and the white sandy beach is patrolled everyday by trained lifeguards making your sea swimming experience a safe one. The West coast climate makes this an ideal spot for sunbathing but if relaxing on the beach or paddling in the sea is a little too tame for you then there are numerous water activities to add some excitement to your stay. You can take a ride on one of the many charted yachts around the bay or try snorkeling or scuba diving in the natural coral reef system that can be found just a few hundred feet offshore. Wind surfing, jet skiing and deep sea fishing are also available and the beach is host to various events throughout the year making it the perfect place for tourists. It hosts the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, Oceanfest, The Air and Sea Show and Beachfest, amongst many others.
<BR><BR>
If you’re looking for something more off the beaten track then you can visit one of the many other beaches to be found in Greater Fort Lauderdale, Deerfield beach, Hillsboro beach, Hollywood beach and Hallandale beach are amongst the best of the rest and all offer their own little bit of paradise and fun.
<BR><BR>
Whether it’s lazing on the beach or high octane water sports you’d prefer there is always something to take your fancy. Many <a target=”_blank” href=”Fort”>http://www.hotels.com/city-hotels_fort-lauderdale_1419713.html”>Fort Lauderdale Hotels</a> can be found a stone’s throw away from the beaches so you never have to travel far to grab that perfect sunbathing spot. In fact you will never need to be far away from the beach to enjoy the best of what Fort Lauderdale has to offer.
