Bingham’s Executive Chef, Shay Cooper, serves recurrently changing, seasonal British menus for lunch and dinner. First-class quality ingredients are the basics of Shay’s cooking and his dishes lean towards the delicate, cleverly built around one key, seasonal ingredient. Shay Cooper is passionate about obtaining locally where possible and has made connections with local businesses, including Teddington Cheese, and Sandy’s fishmonger. The dining room is a warm area with golden velvet banquettes, feature mirrors and droplet chandeliers – while the dominant feature are the floor to ceiling French windows overlooking the hotel’s landscaped gardens, and the Thames. Boutique hotel Bingham was highly praised for its use of local suppliers and sustainable procedures including a ‘sustainable fish’ tasting menu.
Best Small Hotel/B&B
Boutique hotel Bingham offers 15 rooms, spread across two Georgian town houses, which are modern to suit modern tastes but have a vintage twist according to the historical character of the buildings. The room names, which include Baudelaire and Calirrhoe, echo the rich literary tradition of the building. All rooms feature Art Deco inspired furniture and two have lavish antique four-poster beds. The top tier rooms (River and Superior River Design Rooms) offer peaceful river views and whirlpool baths. Bathroom products are supplied by Natural Products, ‘We Live Like This Too’, which forms a small part of Bingham’s ‘green’ philosophy.
“We are absolutely delighted to have won in two categories at the BT Visit London Awards last night,” says Bingham’s owner, Samantha Trinder. “We strive to offer every guest a fantastic experience, whether they’re coming to eat, stay or have an event with us. We are especially grateful to our wonderful team who work extremely hard to achieve this, and of course to all our guests, and to those who voted for us.”
Epoque Hotels congratulates boutique hotel Bingham for this great achievement.

Furthermore, the simplified user interface enables one to easily choose from an array of options suiting his/her convenience. The sites also offer booking options with relation to prices as well. So, it also does not burn a hole in your pocket.
For the business to handle entries to the tune of a few hundred reservations everyday, it relies on business management software that keeps track of the individual reservations and amasses all the acquired information into a continuously updated database.
In our case here, if a hotel needs to take online hotel reservations, it needs a web site well equipped with something called a booking engine. Now, the booking engine is a customized, special search module, or search engine directly connected to the hotel company’s customer reservation database, through the internet. By using this engine, a visitor to the hotel’s site can browse for reservations, and the information on that database updates in real time so as to show the remaining availability after that reservation had been complete.
Some hotels also send daily emails to their client database, as in to the email ids of their clients. These emails generally feature last-minute special deals for booking rooms in vacation times, or for those urgent conference room needs. They might also send weekend special deals for destinations which do not have the seasonal requirement at slashed prices. As the mobile phones of the modern era are getting Wifi (wireless fidelity) enabled, all it might take in a couple of years, for the common man to find his room, would be a few scrolls in his mobile to book a room online, or even better, use text messages also known as SMS (Short Messaging Service), to book their rooms.
Hotels are thriving towards making it all too simple for their guests. Hotels also offer airport shuttle services, and taxi information online when their rooms get booked. So, the guest has an option to get picked up at the airport by a car, sent from his hotel. It removes the tedious problem of finding a taxi guy and him, in turn, hunting for your hotel. Some hotels also provide ‘reward points’ for being loyal customers and these points are awarded as more reservations are done online. These points generally amass to provide the customer, a free stay at the hotel, or a complimentary guided tour around the city and so on.

Everybody likes a green city and, this year, they don’t come much more carbon-neutral than Copenhagen. Not only is the Danish capital the only city in the world to have been awarded the UCI Bike City label, but it is also halfway through its four-year run of world class cycling events, which started in 2008.
Created by the International Cycling Union, the idea of awarding UCI Bike City monikers was developed to promote cycling amongst internationally renowned cities. From designating good quality cycle networks to hosting international competitive cycling championships, the award can go to any city that is seen to be actively promoting the environmental element of using a bike. Though Copenhagen is the only city so far to meet all of the criteria needed for the award, other cities will undoubtedly follow not far behind, as many cities, like Copenhagen, are committed to promoting cycling as a green means of transport.
To mark this nomination and to further promote cycling, Copenhagen launched a programme of cycling events in 2008 to run right through to 2011. Six world class races have been planned over four years, starting with the UCI Track Cycling World Cup Classics that was held in 2008, followed by the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup, both of which were repeated in 2009. However, the two major events that have caught the attention of the worldwide cycling press are the 2010 UCI Track Cycling World Championships in March and the UCI Road World Championships, to be held in late August or early September 2011.
As Copenhagen makes the most of its place as the world’s leading cycling city, several other major cycling events have taken place over 2008 and 2009 and will take place again in 2010 and 2011; from televised races to local community projects to encourage all ages and abilities to turn to cycling as an everyday means of transport. Already, more than 35% of all Copenhageners travel to work or school on a bicycle, which is one of the highest figures of any city in the world, but the target for 2015 has been set at an ambitious 50%.
Not only this, but the capital has one of the highest per capita bicycle ownerships, with around 80% of the city’s residents owning a bike and, between them, 1.1 million kilometres are ridden by Copenhageners every single day.
Not only a great mode of transport, residents of Denmark’s capital realise how efficient cycling can be as it dramatically cuts down on CO2 omissions and, due to the reduced amount of road traffic, is considerably quicker and safer for driving short distances. It is also a superb way to keep fit, so hopefully more cities will follow in Copenhagen’s footsteps, or tyre treads, in the near future. This year, many are offering deals to help celebrate the city’s place as one of the most forward-thinking and environmentally friendly capitals in the world.

Jerusalem Hotels
Jerusalem’s hotels are intertwined with Israel’s history. From the founding of the 5 star American Colony Hotel in 1895, to the famous King David Hotel, Jerusalem hotels like the David Citadel Hotel, King David, American Colony, Mamilla, Jerusalem Plaza and Mt. Zion Hotel are intertwined with the history of Israel.
Jerusalem hotels are among the finest of the world. Jerusalem has some tremendous and hotel deals.
David Citadel Hotel
Jerusalem’s David Citadel Hotel is located within walking distance of Jerusalem’s major attractions. The David Citadel Hotel is situated directly across from the Alrov Mamilla Avenue shopping mall and within a short walking distance of the Old City and Jaffa Gate. The hotel boasts 384 immaculate suites and guest rooms, fine kosher food at their Scala restaurant, a luxury gym, a holistic spa, a heated pool, and a private executive lounge. Designed by renowned architect Moshe Safdie, the David Citadel Hotel is the preferred hotel for dignitaries.
The David Citadel Hotel also features a unique spa. Most spas and health clubs in the Jerusalem area emphasize fitness machinery or medicinal healing treatments, like the dermatologically oriented ones on offer with Dead Sea extracts. When it comes to holistic healing of the spirit, however, “Spas themselves are a new concept for Israel,” Spa Director Guy Nadler, who has been in the business for 12 years and has overseen the opening of spas in Eilat and Haifa, explains to Jerusalem.com. “There is no other spa like this in Jerusalem – not with the facilities we offer here.”
In addition to standard fare like facials, mani-pedis, deep tissue and Swedish massages, specialty treatments include aromatherapy, pregnancy massage, Reiki, reflexology, skin wraps (“Contour aromatic salt peeling,” to name one) and luxurious twists on old favorites, like the caviar and pearl facial.
For the more adventurous, there are signature treatments such as the “seven chakra massage,” that begins with heated stones being placed on the seven chakra healing points (energy) and ends with a cascade of warm oil being streamed onto the third eye. The result? If not enlightenment then certainly earthly bliss. Guests can also bask in the Ayurvedic glow of a full-body warm oil massage.
King David Hotel
Jerusalem’s King David Hotel is the first luxury hotel in Jerusalem. The historic King David Hotel was a hub for the British authorities during the pre-state years. Located across the street from the YMCA and new downtown, Mamilla and Liberty Bell Park, the King David is a lavish choice for accommodation as well as a Jerusalem landmark. It is the default designation for visiting dignitaries. The King David Hotel is located within a short distance of Jerusalem’s Old City and the new Alrov Mamilla shopping area.
American Colony Hotel
The American Colony Hotel is one of Jerusalem’s historic hotels. Personified by classic Arabian arches, elaborate furnishings and opulent suites, this elegant boutique Jerusalem hotel prides itself on offering guests an enchanting “East meets West” experience in a distinctively tranquil and romantic setting. Its lush gardens, world-class restaurants, rich theme-night entertainment and quintessential style have earned the American Colony its distinguished reputation for providing new and returning guests of all ages with an extraordinary experience.
A wall in the hotel lobby is dedicated to photos and signatures of famous guests of the hotel including: Sir Winston Churchill, Laurence of Arabia, Mikhail Gorbachev, Lord Allenby, Richard Gere, Jane Fonda, Robert De Niro, Bob Dylan, Giorgio Armani, Sir Ben Kingsley, Natalie Portman and others.
The American Colony Hotel is a member of The Leading Small Hotels of the World.
The Hotel has won many awards in the last decade, including: Condé Nast Traveler – Best Hotel in the Middle East; Condé Nast Gold List; Relais & Châteaux Passion Trophy Award.
Inbal Hotel
Situated atop Liberty Bell Park in the heart of Jerusalem and facing the Old City walls, The Inbal Jerusalem Hotel offers a Five Star Deluxe service with modern amenities and facilities.
The Inbal was built in the early 1980s from authentic Jerusalem stone both inside and out. In 2007, the hotel renovated its guest rooms, outfitting them with widescreen plasma TVs and updated, elegant decor.
The building is oriented around a glassed-in atrium center, which commonly serves as a lovely venue for weddings and other occasions. One side of the structure overlooks the scenic Liberty Bell Park, which links the centrally-located residential Talbieh neighborhood with the trendy and lively German Colony neighborhood.
The Inbal’s exercise complex is among Jerusalem’s best spas, with an arch-shaped steam room, a dry sauna, TechnoGym fitness equipment, treatment and massage rooms; an adult pool, a kiddie pool and a ping pong table; a thick, climate-controlled plastic bubble covering shields swimmers from the elements in the colder months.
Mamilla Hotel
The Mamilla Hotel is one of the newest Jerusalem hotels. Located in central Jerusalem’s emerging Mamilla hub of upscale hospitality and shopping, itself set against backdrop of the Old City walls, the Mamilla Jerusalem Hotel, which opened in the summer of 2009, represents a new standard for luxury accommodations in the city. Designed by renowned Italian ultra-contemporary architect Piero Lissoni, the hotel’s facilities include a Holistic Well-being spa and gym, exclusive dining, function spaces, an indoor swimming pool, a rooftop balcony facing the Old City walls and the Tower of David, a synagogue and an underground parking lot and the uber-trendy Mirror Bar. Jerusalem’s Mamilla Hotel is located within the Mamilla shopping center, featuring fine kosher dining, right outside of the Old City gates,
Jerusalem Plaza Hotel
The Jerusalem Plaza Hotel is one of the finest five star Jerusalem hotels. Nearly unparalleled among Jerusalem hotels in both convenience and luxury, this kosher hotel may be the number one destination for religious Jewish American visitors to the Holy City, and on major holidays like Passover and Sukkot, the Plaza becomes a hub for a vibrant scene of visitors and residents.
This Jerusalem hotel is located just steps away from Independence Park, Ben Yehuda pedestrian mall, the Great Synagogue, and the Old City.
The high standard of luxury here matches the gleaming marble architecture, with many of the 271 rooms featuring balconies, and dining options including the well-regarded Primavera, run by Chef Shalom Kadosh, and a glatt kosher sushi bar.
Mount Zion Hotel
Jerusalem’s Mount Zion Hotel is located right outside of the Old City of Jerusalem, on Mt. Zion. This boutique hotel is housed in a historic building, built in 1882 under Ottoman rule, and it served as the Hospital of St. John until 1948.
During Israel’s War of Independence, which ended in 1948, the population of the Old City’s Jewish Quarter were under siege by the Jordanian Army, but a secret cable car (which can still be visited today) ferried food and supplies from a room inside the hotel to the beleaguered fighters and residents inside the Old City walls.
The boutique Jerusalem hotel is located on historic Derech Hebron, very close to Liberty Bell Park, the Old Train Station, the Ma’abada Theater, the Begin Center, Cinematheque art movie house and a small strip of quality restaurants.
The Mount Zion Hotel is also home to Jerusalem’s only hamman, or Turkish bath. The hammam is located on the site of the building’s former cistern and is open to hotel guests free of charge. Visitors and those looking to enhance the hammam experience with a Turkish massage can speak to Avi Chavi, the spa’s director, who is more than happy to expound on the benefits of the hammam experience. “The high percentage of heat in a hammam [which is a wet heat, as opposed to the dry heat of a sauna] is ideal for removing toxins from the body,” he recently explained. “While just sitting in a hammam is beneficial, we also offer pressure stretching, peeling, and massages with a loofa and special soap.”
Jerusalem is a city that attracts visitors, tourists, and pilgrims from around the world. But, for those looking for the best luxury hotels in Jerusalem, there is no shortage of luxury hotel rooms in Israel.
