Why are Luxury Holiday Cruises Becoming so Popular With Vacationers?

Monday, February 15th, 2010

In this era of faster everything, including faster and larger commercial airliners where passengers are packed in like sardines, one thing seems to remain constant.  That is the wonderful, leisurely world of cruising.  For many years the airline industry has experienced numerous setbacks, while the cruise industry has been growing by leaps and bounds. There are many reasons why you should consider becoming a part of this amazing phenomenon.  Here are some of them.

According to recent research from the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), ninety-five percent of cruisers give top marks to their cruising experience and more than seventy-five percent plan to cruise again within three years.

Contrary to what some people think, cruises are very affordable.  With most vacations you end up paying for air flights, hotels or resorts, restaurants, entertainment, and sometimes car rentals.  If you add all these costs up, cruises can be a real bargain.  When you book a cruise, in most cases you pay for the airfare and cruise.  However, if you live close enough to your cruise ship departure port, you may be able to drive there much cheaper than you can fly.  Even if you have to fly to the departure port you can always get a flight and cruise package deal which is usually less expensive than purchasing your flight and cruise separately.

When you book a luxury cruise vacation, well over 85% of your holiday is prepaid and that includes all meals, night clubs, stage shows, movies, and entertainment, as well as numerous other activities and amenities.  In addition, most ships have onboard activities such as golf, rock climbing, dancing, swimming, scuba diving lessons which can lead to certification, Pilates, yoga, and fitness trainers.  You can also pamper yourself with wonderful spas and body massages.

Another way to save big bucks on a cruise is to book an inside cabin.  If you do not need to have a cabin with a balcony or ocean view, then you will save a lot of money.  You have use of all the shared amenities that your fellow passengers have, but it’s costing you a lot less.

You can also save a bundle on repositioning cruises.  A repositioning cruise is made possible at certain times of the year, usually in the spring and fall, when cruise lines relocate their ships from one part of the world to another.

There is a large variety of luxury cruise vacations to choose from, ranging from three day mini cruises to several month long cruises as well as an amazing around the world cruise odyssey.

When you cruise, you are traveling in the lap of luxury in a floating five-star hotel.  You will be pampered and feel you are living the life of a king or queen, not just for a day, but for the entire length of the cruise.  Gourmet dining, impeccable service and elegant surroundings are only a few of the superlatives that are used to describe cruising.

If you like delicious food you will absolutely love gourmet meals and scrumptious desserts created by great chefs and served in a variety of restaurants.  There are always wonderful buffets available throughout the day and even midnight buffets.  A number of themed lounges are located throughout the cruise ships for your convenience.

Love seeing Broadway style shows and theater performances without having to make reservations or pay outlandish prices for tickets?  Then taking a luxury cruise is the answer.  So many things are included on cruises which make them such a great value for your travel and entertainment dollar.

From children to great grandparents, there is always something to interest everyone on a cruise.  You have the option to be as active as you like or you can just relax and experience magnificent sunrises and breathtaking sunsets while watching the world go by.  So many wonderful, precious memories and experiences will stay with you a lifetime when you take a luxury cruise.

Want to party around the clock?  Not a problem.  Whether you are with a partner or single, it’s always party time.  You don’t even have to plan or clean up after the party, just have a lot of fun!

Businesses from around the world book conferences and seminars, team building get-togethers, new product launches and employee reward vacations on cruise ships.  Cruise lines do not charge extra for conference room facilities and use of audio and video equipment.

Group cruises are not only for companies and business people.  Family reunions, honeymoons and weddings, sports groups and clubs, charities and fund raisers are only some of the many kinds of groups that have their events on cruises.

On cruises there is no hassle of having to pack and unpack again and again every time you travel to a new destination.  Another bonus is that there is no limit on the amount of luggage you can bring on a cruise.

People with disabilities should have no problem getting around on a cruise ship.  Cruise lines have made onboard accessibility a non-issue as their ships are equipped with ramps, elevators and easily accessible cabins and state rooms.

Modern cruise ships have dramatically reduced the problem of seasickness.  Today’s larger ships slice through the waves instead of riding on top of them.  Also, new innovative technologies like stabilizers and counterbalancing systems have greatly reduced the pitch and roll of cruise ships, all but neutralizing any problem of seasickness.

Cruising is also one of the safest forms of travel.  The cruise industry has an exceptional safety record.  And as far as assaults and robberies are concerned, they are over a hundred times less likely to occur on a cruise ship than in your own home town.

A physician and medical staff are never more than a few minutes away on a cruise ship should any passenger need to see doctor.  Most common passenger ailments and minor mishaps occur less on a cruise ship than on shore.

For those that have a fear of flying or don’t enjoy being crammed like sardines into commercial airplanes when traveling to their destinations, here is some great news.  The cruise lines in the United States are making terrific strides catering to cruise passengers needs.  They are opening up more ports of call on both the East and West coasts so more and more people who would love to go on a cruise but don’t like flying, can easily drive or take a bus or train to most departure ports.

Kitchen Negligence Kills Tourists Holiday Accident Claims on the Increase

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

Many recent arrivals to a foreign destination will experience a ‘funny tummy’, a digestive complaint which is best known as a ’stomach upset’. Although this type of illness is generally not dangerous, it can ruin a sufferer’s holiday, and lead to hospitalisation for complications such as dehydration. Scientific research about the breeding patterns of bacteria has led health experts to call into question stomach bugs which arise on the first two days of a vacation overseas. The immune system of an everyday UK citizen is unaccustomed to foreign germs. Exposure to harmful bacteria through contaminated food or water can spark a sudden, explosive sickness. Yet some researchers now believe that for people becoming ill in the first few days of their holiday, there might be a less exotic explanation.

With the cost cutting approach of low cost airlines, many short haul flights have discontinued serving meals. Eating in the airport has become more fashionable, and numerous people eat a complete meal in the departure lounge cafe to to give them the get-up-and-go for their flight. The food is often buffet style, and is left sweating under hot lights. For individuals taking an early morning flight, the hushed airport means that food could have been there for many hours. I paid for eat as much as you like said Tony from Winchester, but I asked for my money back. When I got to the buffet there were 3 flies on the sausages. I felt ill, and in all likelihood would have been, if I d eaten the meal. Whilst foreign microbes do pose a danger to the digestive systems of UK tourists, people falling sick during the beginning three days of their stay, should visit the doctor to find out the roots of the problem. As Tony revealed, it might be closer to home than you believe.

My Idea Of A Cronulla Holiday House

Monday, January 25th, 2010

We recently went on holidays to a Sydney suburb called Cronulla and had such a wonderful time with our friends. Unfortunately during the planning we had so many problems that we thought we wouldn’t even be able to find holiday accommodation. Like many people we left our search for a Cronulla holiday house too late and were disappointed with the standard of many of the holiday houses that were still left to rent. We then had people drop out and people’s budgets lower due to retrenchments and unexpected bills.

We decided to forge on and find some cheap Cronulla accommodation that could rival any of the good holiday houses in the area. We struggled at first and nearly gave up but on one of our last Google searches we came across www.CronullaCabins.com.au and found their range of recently renovated holiday cabins. Not only were they new but they were available when we needed them and met everyone’s budget requirements.

Our Cronulla Cabins holiday “house” was perfect and so close to all the attractions of Cronulla including the beautiful beach, the great shops and the many restaurants, cafes and pubs. It was also very easy to get to the city and other shopping centres around Cronulla. We also explored the local national park and enjoyed every minute of our holiday, even the times spent close to the cabin and around the holiday park.

So if you and your friends or family are looking for a perfect “holiday house” in Cronulla then take a look at the holiday cabins at Cronulla Cabins. We are sure you will agree that they will rival any of the holiday houses in the Cronulla area. Call them to book today on Ph: (02) 9523 4099 or book online at their website. We hope you enjoy your holiday as much as we did.

holiday apartments Tel Aviv

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

When you are visiting Israel, you may find that Tel Aviv is a comfortable place to visit. However for some it can be expensive if you are going for a long holiday or are taking along the children. This is why many travelers will try holiday apartment Tel Aviv rentals. These rentals allow a person to rent an apartment throughout the holidays for one fee for their entire stay in the area, instead of spending a ton of money on the hotel’s daily fee.

A huge savings comes when you have children or friends traveling with you to Israel, usually because you will cut the bill for hotel rooms in half if you rent your accommodations from a holiday apartments Tel Aviv service. You can get a number of rooms for your party or for your children and you will pay one fee that is much lower. You also get the benefit of being able to cook meals in your holiday apartments Tel Aviv accommodations. This is because you have a kitchen for making your meals, while in a hotel; you must pay the high cost of eating in restaurants or ordering room service.

Also when you get holiday apartments Tel Aviv, you have more privacy as there are usually less people than in a busy hotel. Additionally you are much closer to the pulse of the city by living amongst its inhabitants. You will find that you learn more about the culture, you feel a kinship with your neighbors that being in a hotel will never get you. Holiday apartments Tel Aviv are easy to find as well, even if you do not speak the language, by researching online. Many of the companies who offer holiday apartments Tel Aviv are only too happy to help you find high quality quarters when you visit Israel.

Patong where the holiday never ends

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

At the heart of the nightlife in Phuket is the country’s Patong Beach, which attracts many tourists each year and is known for some good shopping bargains and a vibrant nightlife that maintains to keep the momentum going all through out the year. It was only during the 80’s that Europeans began to explore this part of Phuket and since then many large restaurants and malls sporting big names, have begun to appear in the area. The area runs a 2km beach stretch that is absolutely beautiful and is the perfect destination for a beach holiday. However, those who arrive in Patong will soon discover that its nightlife is perhaps more popular than its sandy shores. To sample the nightlife in Patong travelers could make their way to either Bangla Road or another place called the Paradise complex. The numerous restaurants to be found in Patong serve up just about any cuisine one would come across anywhere. The best aspect of it all is that each outlet is within walking distance of one another, so in one night travelers could expect to treat their palettes to many gourmet cuisines. The range extends from Thai to Mexican to even Turkish eateries. Leaving aside the restaurants, if travelers which to sample the traditional Thai noodles or rice one could do so for prices that are quite affordable. Aside from this, the customary fast food chains such as Pizza Hut, Burger King and even McDonalds could be found in Patong. With the setting of the sun, Patong changes its scenery and ambiance, with the many bars churning out their refreshments and music to attract beach goers who are looking to have a wonderful time. Places like Club Lime in Patong offer travelers a three in one venue. The club triples actually, as a bar, restaurant and a nightclub as well. Sporting plush sofas which are large and from a distance its neon green lighting is hard to miss. Another big attraction to the club is the open air seating that it offers as well as its reputation for hosting popular DJ’s from around the world. And that’s not all the sound system is claimed to be the best in town. When scouting for a Phuket hotel to stay at while in Patong, one such as the five star resort like the Millennium Resort Patong Phuket, would be a good choice. The hotel is set amidst tropical landscaping that is right in the heart of Patong beach, and offers rooms towards the lakeside or the beachside.

Captivating Coventry – Great Reasons to Choose Coventry for Your Holiday or Conference

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

As a city with a rich tradition and a transport hub for the West Midlands, Coventry has a lot going for it for both business and leisure travelers. It’s a handsome city of parks and gardens with a rich choice of shopping and dining facilities. Coventry accommodation, too, is varied with a fine range of Coventry hotels to choose from. And for the businessman, Coventry conferencing facilities are among the best in the UK. Here’s a look at this captivating city and why you should choose Coventry for your next holiday or conference destination.

Coventry is a city of great history but the first thing that strikes you when you arrive in Coventry is its modern look. This is because its industrial status made it a prime target for the Luftwaffe in the Second World War. After the war, Coventry was completely rebuilt so little remains of the original town which had stood here for over a thousand years. The result was a planned city with parks, gardens and walking streets.

However, if you’re a history enthusiast and love browsing historical sites, you’ll find much of interest. Many caches of the historic city remain and the city is replete with lore and legend. For one thing, this is the city of the famous Lady Godiva who lived here in the 11th century. Today a statue to this bold mistress stands in the Cathedral Lanes Shopping Centre, and a festival each June celebrates her famous ride through the city.

For a moving experience, visit St Michael’s Cathedral which was constructed next to the ruins of the old cathedral razed in the blitz. The forlorn ruins comprise the tower, spire and outer wall.

Other historical delights you should not to miss include the Holy Trinity Church, Priory Cottages, Ford Hospital, old Bablake School and Saint John the Baptist Church. In particular, a walk along Spon Street is extremely rewarding as it stands as a living museum of the city’s historic past.

St Mary’s Guildhall is a fine testament to Coventry’s mercantile heritage. This is where traders congregated in the middle-ages to talk over the issues of the day. Once chosen as a prison for Mary Queen of Scots, it’s notable for its stained glass windows, tapestries and a statue of Lady Godiva.

To view Coventry’s past all in one place, visit the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum and Museum. Here you can trace the city’s long past via an interactive display. And for a glimpse into the city’s role in the industrial revolution, you can check out the Museum of British Road Transport. This offers you a chance to marvel at the world’s largest collection of old vehicles made in Britain, including a Penny-farthing bicycle and the Thrust 2, a previous holder of the land speed record.

When you’ve had your fill of museums and historic sites, you’ll be pleased to know that Coventry is no slouch when it comes to entertainment, either. Theatre lovers can visit the Belgrade Theatre, Criterion Theatre and the SkyDome, are located in the city centre. Meanwhile the Warwick Arts Centre, a huge arts complex, is situated at the University of Warwick, a short drive from the city. Downtown Coventry is also home to a bevy of clubs, pubs, cafes, and restaurants.

Another great plus for visiting Coventry is the ease of getting there and away. Coventry is a convenient transportation hub for both rail and road. London Euston is just 80 minutes away and there are departures every 20 minutes. Even more frequent trains depart for Birmingham. The city’s main bus station offers a wealth of connections to all parts of the country via National Express coaches.

The next great thing about Coventry is the accommodation. Coventry hotels range from small budget accommodation to world class hotels. And if you’re looking for a place for organized events, Coventry conferencing facilities offer the perfect setting for meetings, seminars and conferences of all kinds.

So when you’re planning your next holiday, city break or business meeting, choose Coventry as your destination. You’ll find the Coventry conferencing and Coventry accommodation will fit your needs and budget perfectly.

When visiting Coventry, stay at the Quality hotel Coventry. The 80 Hotel Coventry Bedrooms are all en-suite. Hotel Coventry conferencing facilities feature four ground floor conference and event suites catering for 2 -150 guests.

Michiel Van Kets writes article for the Prince Hotels Collection with a portfolio of properties in both the UK and Germany. The Prince Hotel Group aims to deliver a friendly and efficient service to ensure that the stay is an enjoyable one. African Safari – Why Kenya is the Home of the Dream African Safari Holiday

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

People choose African safari holidays for a wide variety of reasons. Most are lured by the prospect of viewing the world’s most exotic animals and landscapes. For some it’s the perfect setting for a honeymoon, for others, an intrepid family adventure. Still others go on safari for the ultimate get-away-from-it-all chill out. And then there are those who have dreamed of Africa since their childhood and have finally decided it’s time to encounter the real thing. None are disappointed as Africa can give you all these things and much more. Providing, that is, you go to the right place – Kenya, East Africa, home of the safari.

East Africa is the home of safari for many reasons, not the least of which is the fact that the word safari comes from the local Swahili language. The fact is that is part of the continent has many things going for it. It has a long coastline with pristine beaches on the Indian Ocean, stunning landscapes and scenery, many nature reserves with a fine assortment of big game, excellent infrastructure and a long history of organsising safari holidays. What’s more, East Africa has a temperate climate all year and an array of diverse cultures ranging from warrior tribes, to nomadic herdsmen, and fishermen.

In the heart of East Africa stands the country of Kenya, home to 40 national parks and game reserves. Among these are some of the most renowned in the world – Masai Mara, Samburu, Amboseli and Meru – names that summon up images of the romantic world of safari. Kenya is right on the equator and is bordered by Sudan and Ethiopia to the north, Uganda and Lake Victoria to the west. To the southwest lies Tanzania and the Indian Ocean is in the southeast. That marvel of the African landscape Mount Kilimanjaro can be seen from Kenya to the South of the Tanzanian border.

Kenya’s modern capital of Nairobi is a bustling modern city with some great hotels, shopping and fine places to eat. For all its big city bustle, Nairobi will give you a gentle introduction to the world of Africa. Arriving from the West, it will provide a gentle decompression chamber from which to explore the wild beauty of the hinterlands. Nairobi is a place where you can get your films developed, roam through book shops, and send post cards and dream of the real Africa waiting nearby. A short drive away is Karen Blixen’s house which is open to visitors. Or perhaps you’d prefer to have afternoon tea with giraffes at nearby Giraffe Manor.

But what you really came to see is the animals and in this regard, Kenya is without equal. The “big five” animals of Africa – the lion, leopard, buffalo, rhinoceros and elephant – can all be found in Kenya along with a host of other species.

Each of Kenya’s many games reserves and national parks offers an unique experience. Take the Masai Mara Game Reserve. It’s home to a teeming population of all types of fauna – herbivores, predators and rich selection of birdlife. Masai Mara is also the site of one of Africa’s great spectacles – the Great Migration which takes place each year. In this great event, millions of grazers such as wildebeest and zebra make a long journey from Serengeti National Park in Tanzania to the Masai Mara. It’s one of the visual wonders of the wildlife world. Then there’s Amboseli National Park, renowned as the place to get up and close with elephants, and Samburu Game Reserve famed for its zebra, gazelle, giraffe and antelope.

Kenya is also an ornithologist’s wonderland, being home to over 1000 species of bird. One location not to be missed is Lake Nakuru. At certain times of the year, the lake is a vision in pink when it’s visited by up to a million flamingos.

The very word ’safari’ speaks of romance and adventure in the most glorious of settings and Kenya is the place to go. But such a successful safari requires meticulous organisation by experts with a long record of local experience. For this reason, it’s best to put the planning of your safari holiday in the hands of those who really understand the country, the people and the logistics of safari holidays.

Kenya is the home of the safari but make sure you do it right. A successful African wildlife safari in Kenya demands successful planning and comprehensive local knowledge. Cheli & Peacock have over two decades experience in organising African safari holidays and are committed to socially responsible eco-tourism.

Michiel Van Kets writes articles for Cheli and Peacock Ltd., a leading ground handler in Kenya; operating up-market bespoke African wildlife safari holidays for clients that want unforgettable African safari holidays. The company is owned and operated by Stefano Cheli and Liz Peacock who have been running it hands-on ever since 1985. Experience pristine beaches, stay at small elegant camps and and observe African wildlife conservation first hand.

Holiday villas – a home from home

Saturday, December 26th, 2009

Choosing where to go for a holiday abroad is one matter. Choosing whether to stay on an all inclusive basis, bed and breakfast, self catering, or renting a holiday villa or apartment can prove to be a lot more difficult.

It really is down to personal preference but there are a number of factors that can influence such decisions.

When looking to keep costs down, all too often, the holiday villas are overlooked because people assume they will be expensive and difficult to organise.

Holiday villas and holiday apartments though can often turn a dream into a reality. There are literally thousands, if not millions, of holiday homes that are available for rent in probably every country you can think of.

When you have a family or are looking to go away as a group with friends and relatives to perhaps celebrate a special birthday or occasion, the sharing of the cost between a number of people can bring the cost down to one very affordable dream.

Sharing the cost often means you can afford better holiday accommodation than you would in a hotel.  Many holiday villas have their own pool, so you can enjoy the quiet as opposed to a busy hotel pool shared with too many holidaymakers and their children.

The choice of what to eat, what to drink, and even where to eat, become your own. There is no hotel owner or receptionist telling you that you can only eat in their restaurant between 6.30 and 9.30am for breakfast and 7.00-9.00 pm for dinner at inflated prices.

If out and about, you can simply return to the sanctuary of your home from home and relax.

At Perfect Getaways, we review holiday homes in countries all over the world every day and only the best are accepted on to our database of holiday accommodation if we believe our customers would enjoy them.
